ESCWA Web Governance

These are the standards and guidelines for managing and maintaining the ESCWA website. All content entered after 1 May 2016 should follow the guidelines set here and page revisions for existing pages should be made in accordance with the timelines provide

Starting Point

You must start with a completed Publication Information for Webpages template, which has been approved by one of the identified Content Approvers. If the template was not approved by the Content Approver, it should be returned.

No publication pages should be entered without explicit approval from Content Approvers, as they are ultimately responsible for the quality of the text, including attachments and images.

Publication Pages - Publications that are in one language only

Start by entering the English.

Field Instructions
Language* Select English
Title*

Enter the title of the publication in line with the guidelines provided under the Standards: Webpage Titles section  (English)
Page text alignment*

Select "Left to Right"
Symbol

Enter the symbol of the document assigned by CSS, for example "E/ESCWA/..." If there is no symbol assigned to the document, leave the field blank.
Publication Type* Select the type of publication indicated by the substantive division.
Issued In* Select the year in which the publication is issued
Subject*

Leave Blank
Division*

Select the author division(s). Select both the full name of the substantive division(s) and the abbreviated name of the substantive division(s) by holding down the control button.
Theme*

Select the main theme and the related subtheme(s) provided by the substantive division. To select multiple themes/subthemes, hold down the control button.
ISBN Enter number provided by ISBN (if a number has been issued)
ISSN Enter number provided by ISBN (if a number has been issued)
Division Team Leave Blank
Cover Image* Upload the cover of the publication in line with the guidelines provided under the Standards: Multi-Media section
Alternate text

Add the publication title followed with the word Cover

Before entering Synopsis and Summary information, select the hyperlink "Edit Summary". Then, both the Synopsis and Summary fields will appear.
Summary*

Enter the summary/description provided by the substantive division in line with the guidelines provided under the Standards: Summaries/Description section. Do not use formatting options unless necessary.
Synopsis*

Enter the synopsis/abstract provided by the substantive division in line with the guidelines provided under the Standards: Synopsis/Abstract section. Select the proper text alignment. Do not use formatting options unless necessary.

Supplements to the main publication should be added after the text and follow this format:
Switch to plain text editor Do not change

Publication File in PDF*

Description

Upload the PDF of the publication in line with the guidelines provided under the Standards: Attachments section

Upon upload, "Description" field appears. Enter the core title of the document in line with the guidelines provided under the Standards: Attachements section
Publication File in EPUB

Upload the PDF of the publication in line with the guidelines provided under the Standards: Download File Properties section

Upon upload, "Description" field appears. Enter the core title of the document in line with the guidelines provided under the Standards: Download File Properties section
Keywords*

Enter the keywords provided by the substantive division
salesnumber Enter the salesnumber of the publication assigned by CSS, if applicable
Price Delete this
Legacy PubID Enter the Legacy PubID of the publication assigned by CSS, if applicable
Other Titles*

Leave Blank
Tags

Select a tag(s) provided by the substantive division, if any. To select multiple subjects, hold down the control button.

(enter in English, regardless of the language of the publication/PDF)
All Issues (all languages)

For regular publications select from the drop menu the publication title in order to group all issues together, select from

Uncheck "Generate automatic URL alias"

Enter URL alias in line with the guidelines provided under the Standards:URLs section
MetaTags>Open Graph>Locale

Enter "en_US" exactly

Save and go to the translate menu to enter information for Arabic.
