ESCWA Web Governance

These are the standards and guidelines for managing and maintaining the ESCWA website. All content entered after 1 May 2016 should follow the guidelines set here and page revisions for existing pages should be made in accordance with the timelines provide

Starting Point

You must start with a completed Publication Information for Webpages template, which has been approved by one of the identified Content Approvers. If the template was not approved by the Content Approver, it should be returned.

No publication pages should be entered without explicit approval from Content Approvers, as they are ultimately responsible for the quality of the text, including attachments and images.

Publication Pages - Publications that are in one language only

Start by entering the English.

Title*

Enter the title

Page text alignment*

Select "Left to Right".

News type

Select Press Release or News

Date Enter the date the Press Release or the News was sent to the media
Featured Image

Upload image.

All Press Releases and News should have images

Issue Location

Enter City, Country. Must have city AND country. Refer to The United Nations Terminology Database for translations.

Theme*

Select the main theme and the related subtheme(s) provided by the substantive division. To select multiple themes/subthemes, hold down the control button.

Before entering Synopsis and Summary information, select the hyperlink "Edit Summary". Then, both the Synopsis and Summary fields will appear.
Summary*

Enter the summary/description in line with the guidelines provided under the Standards: Summaries/Description section. Select the proper text alignment. Do not use formatting options unless necessary.

Body*

Enter the main content.

Do not use formatting options unless necessary.

Switch to plain text editor Do not change
Tags

Select a tag(s) provided by the substantive division, if any. To select multiple subjects, hold down the control button.

URL path settings

Uncheck "Generate automatic URL alias"

Enter URL alias in line with the guidelines provided under the Standards:URLs section

MetaTags>Open Graph>Locale

Enter "en_US" exactly

Save and go to the translate menu to enter information for Arabic.
